UITS provides cable TV services, known as HUSKYvision, to all residential halls and as requested to faculty and staff on the Storrs campus. The Basic channel line-up offers over 70 channels of academic, educational and entertainment programming including ESPN and many others.
All full-power broadcast television stations in the United States have stopped broadcasting on analog airwaves and are now broadcasting only in digital. Huskyvision will continue to receive and broadcast the analog signal from both its service providers Charter Communications and CampusTelevideo. No new equipment is needed to continue to receive Huskyvision. No new set top box is required.
Recently there have been inquiries about the Huskyvision channel lineup. In particular there have been requests to add new stations to the lineup. Currently the University is under contract to receive programming from Charter Communication for the bulk of it’s programming and from CampusTelevidio for some specialized stations.
The University is creating the necessary documentation to go out to bid on programming sources and equipment upgrades. This project will look to expand channel options and to begin offering both digital and high definition stations.
We have on-site technical support Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Call 486-4357 for assistance, after hours you will be able to leave a voicemail message.
